| Mission | |||||||||||||||||||||
| The mission of the Student Health Information Management Society (SHIMS) at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is to provide a meaningful interaction among the Health Information Management students as well as other medical and allied health groups. The organization strives to further the professional knowledge of its members. In addition, SHIMS members participate in various fundraising activities with proceeds benefiting not only the organization but also the University’s HIM Department. |

| It's not too late to join SHIMS! Applications are posted near the elevator on the 5th Floor of Wharton Hall. Joining SHIMS is a great way to get to know your peers in HIM. Contact any of the officers via email for more information.
The junior class hosted a luau inspired banquet honoring the senior class in April. Guests participated in games, won door prizes, and each senior received an award and a gift. The banquet was a huge success and fun for all who attended. We look forward to next year's event! SHIMS meetings will resume in September of 2009. The officers would like to encourage HIM majors of all classifcations to join for the 2009/2010 school year. In the Fall 2008 semester, one HIM student was recognized and honored for her scholastic achievements. The Louisiana Medical Group Management Association - Acadiana Chapter Endowed Scholarship was awarded to Annie Viator. |
