Simulation & Learning Labs
The Health Information Management Computer Lab is located in Wharton Hall, Room 504. The computers are equipped with Microsoft Office, as well as Microsoft Visio. The lab is open daily (hours posted on door).
HIM also operates a Population Health Analytics and Decision Support lab in Wharton Hall, Room 453.
The HIM program also subscribes to the American Health Information Management Association’s (AHIMA) Virtual Lab (VLab). The VLab is an Internet-based, practical, participative, HIM and health information technology (HIT) work environment. Students can access and experience state-of-the-art software like the Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Encoders, Medical Coding Practice and Reference Tools, Data Visioning software and other applications they will regularly use in the working world. Lessons and activities designed specifically for the lab applications allow students to test their skills and decision-making ability without jeopardizing the privacy, security, or integrity of real medical records.
