Health Information Management Requirements

The HIM program adheres to the University's prerequisite and corequisite policy statements as explained in the University Catalog. Some colleges/departments/courses have other unique requirements by which the students must abide.

UL Lafayette's College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions does adhere to the "ten-year rule," which specifies a time limit in which certain credits will be accepted.  Please check with the HIM advisor for specific questions.

A minimum grade of “C” must be earned in every course in the HIM curriculum.  In order to enter the junior year in the curriculum, each student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 as computed by the Registrar.  In order to enter the senior year (professional training), each student must have completed every required course or its equivalent through the junior year with a minimum grade of "C".

Students completing the HIM curriculum will have an automatic minor in Health Informatics.
